  Source:  ShiftWA.org The local media has blindly accepted the Democrat legislators’ spin of calling its capital gains tax an “excise tax,” and not identifying it as an “income tax” as the IRS, 49 other states, and the rest of mankind do.  The Democrats know this is a particularly important distinction, since an “income tax” is unconstitutional in Washington State and an “excise tax” is not.  The legislation ( SB 5096 ) was sneaked through the Senate , by a single vote, in a rare Saturday session, and will likely sail through the Democrat-controlled House.  Just as certain as Governor Jay Inslee signing any bill that raises taxes, there will certainly be a lawsuit which will eventually require the Washington State Supreme Court to rule on whether or not Inslee’s income tax on capital gains is an unconstitutional income tax.  By the local media choosing to ignore the IRS, 49 other states, and common sense that this is an “income tax” and choosing instead to support the Democrats’ false

Source: ShiftWA.org As predicted, the Democrats in the Washington State Senate used a rare Saturday session to pass their unnecessary and unconstitutional state income tax on capital gains legislation, and the Seattle Times buried the story on page A8, while the News Tribune did not cover it at all in their Sunday print edition.    Despite the state being flush with cash after a record-breaking 20% revenue increase the past two years, and at least 7% more projected during the next two years, and another $4.2 billion more on its way from the federal bailouts, the greedy Democrats in Olympia voted to take control of even more of your money to fund the their strong desire to increase the size, power, and reach of state government.  One of the reasons for the quick actions by the Senate on a state income tax bill is because the upcoming March 17 th  state revenue forecast is expected to show the state will be projected to receive  even more  tax revenu

Source:  ShiftWA.org Hey Seattle Times, be careful, your bias is showing.    Very questionable coverage from the Seattle Times over its story regarding legislative concerns about the lack of transparency in the investigation of the data breach at the Washington State Auditor’s office.  Last December, hackers took advantage of shoddy management and infiltrated the office’s computer system, gaining access to the personal financial information of 1.3 million Washington State residents.  Ironically, the auditor’s office had the data because it was investigating the security breach last Spring at the Governor Inslee’s Employment Security Department (ESD) in which $600 million was stolen, one of the largest crimes in American history.  In the story, the reporters never once mention that Washington State Auditor Pat McCarthy is a partisan Democrat, only that she is “an independently elected statewide official.” The story also only mentions three Democrat legislators who are investigating the

  Source:  ShiftWA.org Thanks to the political control the Washington Education Association (WEA) has purchased over Democrat lawmakers in Olympia, Washington State ranks 47 th  in the country in returning public school students to in-person instruction.    According to the independent research site  Burbio.com , only 19.2% of Washington’s public-school students are receiving any in-person instruction (while many private school students have been safely back in school for months).  Meanwhile, Chair Lisa Wellman (D – Mercer Island) of the Washington State Senate Education Committee is following orders from the Democrats’ major campaign contributors at the WEA and killing bills which would safely return students to the classroom.  Sen. Wellman has already killed the bi-partisan  SB 5037 , which would have safely reopened schools, in her committee.  Reportedly Sen. Wellman will also do the same to  SB 5464 , a bill introduced by Senator John Braun (R – Centralia) and Senator Lynda Wilson
