What A Joke!


Governor Jay Inslee, now that he’s concluded his time-consuming preparation for his nearly 4 seconds on the Democrat National Convention’s virtual stage, has returned to mismanagement of the COVID crisis in Washington State. Gov. Inslee showed up in Central Washington for a rare visit, and “announced that the state plans to improve access to healthcare in agricultural communities and provide more testing.” Seems like that might have been a timely thing to do, I don’t know, maybe back in the spring? Guess that prep time for the Democrat convention kept him from other priorities. (Wenatchee World).

Proving that there are a few voices of reason in state government a few Senator John Braun (R-Centralia) sent a letter to his colleagues this week regarding the need for a legislative special session.    Senator Braun is the top Republican member on the Senate’s Ways and Means Committee, and is widely considered to be the party’s leading budget expert. Source: ShiftWA.org The Washington State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council released its Economic Forecast and the COVID-19 outbreak has had an even greater negative impact on the state’s revenue than previously reported.   For the past few weeks Washington State officials have been saying the economic shutdown will cost the state $7 billion in revenue over the next three years.  The latest forecast projects that the state will lose nearly $9 billion in revenue ($4.6 billion during the current budget through next June, and $4.4 billion during the 2021-2023 biennia).   ( Washington State Economic and Revenue Forecast Council ) Governor Inslee proposes eliminating a scheduled 3% pay raise for some management and the few non-union state employees, while still giving a second pay raise to union employees (though having them take a few unpaid days off to maintain current payroll expenditures next year).  After the pay raise is implemented, union emp...

The latest Elway Poll shows voters believe Governor Jay Inslee has done a poor job handling the protests/police issue.    An incredible 62% of Washington residents hold a negative opinion about the governor’s “performance”, compared to just 32% having a favorable opinion. This is understandable given the embarrassing and bumbling response (i.e.  “It is news to me.” ) when he was first asked what he thought of the violent takeover of 6 blocks on Capitol Hill and the forced closure of its Seattle police precinct headquarters by protesters in June. The governor’s lack of awareness continues with his refusal to say whether or not he agrees with the radical proposals by his fellow Democrats on the Seattle City Council to risk public safety and slash 50% from the police budget.
